This is another interesting lesson about drawing a mystical character and in it, I would like to tell and show you how to sketch a classic ogre.

An ogre is a legendary monster drawn as a large, hideous, man-like being. The ogres are negative characters, but there is no need to be afraid of them because they are only fictional and do not exist in real life.

At first sight, this character will certainly seem evil and scary, but in this lesson, you will learn to draw an ogre in a cartoon style, so it will look quite cute and funny.

In mythology, ogres are often depicted as inhumanly large, tall, and having a disproportionately large head, abundant hair, unusually colored skin, a voracious appetite, and a strong body.

Now I suggest you start drawing an ogre. I’m sure that this lesson will be interesting and useful for you!

How to draw an ogre step by step

  1. Outline the ogre’s head and torso.

Set proportions first, sketching the head as a medium circle near the top-center. Slightly below and overlapping, sketch a larger circle for the ogre’s belly and chest. Keep both shapes vertically and leave room on the sides for long arms and at the bottom for short legs and shoes. Ogres are usually large and bulky creatures, so use large ovals for the body parts.Outline the ogre’s head and torso

  2. Add facial features and tusks.

Inside the head circle of the monster, draw the evil eyes as two small ovals set evenly from the center. Between them, sketch a short curved ogre nose. Under the nose, illustrate the mouth and two small tusks that angle outward from a shallow mouth line. Thors usually have a very distinctive face with small eyes, a hooked nose and a large mouth, so try to capture that.Add facial features and tusks

  3. Sketch the pointed monster ears.

On each side of the head, draw a wide, triangular ear that points upward, then add a small inner curve to represent ear folds. These elf-like ears combined with the tusks create a clear ogre look without too many details.Sketch the pointed monster ears

  4. Draw one arm of the ogre.

From the left side of the monster upper body, draw a rounded shoulder that flows into a long, slightly curved arm. Let the arm hang down and end with a simple fist made from one rounded shape with a thumb bump. You can also sketch the second arm at the opposite side.Draw one arm of the ogre

  5. Add the waistline and legs.

Draw a simple belt/waist curve across the lower part of the big body circle. From the belt down, sketch two short, tapered leg guides shaped like triangles that point to the ground, leaving a small gap between them. Try to make both legs the same length and angle.Add the waistline and legs

  6. Draw the shoes of the ogre.

Beneath each leg guide, sketch a flat, rounded shoe – simple ovals with flatter bottoms. The silhouette of the monster should now look as an ogre. You can modify the shoes, for example by making them longer to give them a more medieval look.Draw the shoes of the ogre

  7. Detail the belt and shorts.

Around the waistline, draw the bottom edge of the belt to complete the shape. Then mark a small rectangular buckle in the middle. Next, using torn and uneven lines, outline the torn bottom edge of the pants, just like we did in the Hulk drawing lesson.Detail the belt and shorts

  8. Clean up the fantasy monster outline.

Now, trace the final outer lines of head, torso, limbs, and clothes of the fantasy monster. Erase construction lines, removing the overlapping parts of the two original circles where they are hidden by the details. Check symmetry and start coloring.Clean up the fantasy monster outline

  9. Add green skin and brown clothes.

To paint the mostet, use simple flats for readability, filling the skin with a muted green typical of fantasy ogres. Color the shorts a warm brown and the belt a darker brown; make the buckle a light yellow. Paint the shoes a deep brown like the belt.Add green skin and brown clothes

Now you know how to draw an ogre step by step. Let me remind you that at the end of the lesson you can download a PDF file that I have specially prepared for your convenience.

This file contains a short version of this drawing guide and other useful tools. Thus, you can complete the lesson at any time without using the Internet.
