How to Draw Percy Jackson: Introduction

Percy Jackson first appeared in books before making his way into other forms of media, such as comics and movies. This means the character has gone through various visual interpretations, and the original Percy from the novels may look slightly different compared to how he’s portrayed elsewhere.

In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to draw Percy Jackson using my signature simplified style, which includes basic proportions and facial features. This makes the drawing process more beginner-friendly while still conveying the most important features of the character.

Of course, you’re welcome to give your final drawing of Percy Jackson a different appearance – one that matches how Percy looks in the movies, comics, or official book illustrations. To do that, simply adjust the facial features, proportions, and clothing as you follow the step-by-step guide below.

If you’re ready, let’s get started and draw the demigod hero from this beloved book series.

How to Draw Percy Jackson

  1. Sketch the head and torso of the character.

Draw a large, rounded shape for the head of Percy Jackson. Then, draw an oval below the head for the torso of the character. If you want your Percy Jackson drawing to look more realistic, adjust the proportions by making the head smaller and the body larger to reduce the cartoon-like appearance.Sketch the head and torso of the character

  2. Draw Percy Jackson’s face details.

First, draw the eyes of Percy Jackson as two large ovals near the center of the face. Then, add two simple eyebrows just above the eyes. Below the eyes, draw a small curved line to represent a smiling mouth. At this stage, you can also refine the shape of the head slightly if needed to better frame the features.Draw Percy Jackson’s face details

  3. Add the ear and neck.

Now, draw one small, curved ear on the side of the head. Since the character is drawn in a three-quarter view, only one ear will be visible. Make sure the ear is positioned in line with the eyes. Next, add two short lines to create the neck – these lines connect the base of the head to the torso.Add the ear and neck

  4. Draw Percy Jackson’s hair.

Starting from one side of the forehead, draw spiky, uneven sections of hair that extend over the forehead and around the sides of the head. Use jagged, angular lines to draw his messy hair. Make sure the bangs cover part of the forehead without hiding the eyes.Draw Percy Jackson’s hair

  5. Sketch the legs and feet.

Now that the upper part of the character is mostly complete, start working on the lower half of the body. From the bottom of the torso, draw two legs. Use straight curved lines to form each leg, tapering them a little as they go down. Then, at the bottom of each leg, draw simple shoes using flat oval or angular shapes.Sketch the legs and feet

  6. Draw the arms of Percy Jackson.

From the sides of the torso, sketch two bent arms that tuck into the pockets of his pants. Start by drawing each upper arm curving downward, then continue the lines for the forearms. Because the hands are mostly hidden in the pockets, you won’t need to draw fingers or other details.Draw the arms of Percy Jackson

  7. Detail the shirt, pants, and shoes.

To draw Percy Jackson’s short, first outline the neckline with a small curve at the bottom of the neck. Then sketch the sleeves of the shirt with simple angular lines. Then draw the curved bottom edge of the shirt. Draw the tops of the shoes and indicate the separation between the sole and upper part of the shoe.Detail the shirt, pants, and shoes

  8. Finalize the basic sketch.

Now it’s time to finalize your Percy Jackson drawingl. Use a darker pencil or pen to trace over the final outlines of the head, face, hair, torso, arms, and legs. Erase any leftover construction lines or sketchy marks from earlier steps. This is also a good time to make small adjustments, if needed.Finalize the basic sketch

  9. Complete the drawing with color.

Start coloring Percy Jackson with the skin tone, using a light peach or beige shade. Then, color the hair a dark brown or black, depending on how you prefer to depict Percy. His T-shirt is typically shown in orange. The pants can be filled in with blue or denim-like tones, and the shoes can be gray or black.Complete the drawing with color
