How to Draw Pomni
This tutorial will show you how to draw Pomni, a jester-styled girl from the computer-animated web series The Amazing Digital Circus.

How to Draw Pomni: Introduction
The character Pomni is one of those figures that’s very easy to recognize thanks to her distinctive features and unique design. While she may share some similarities with other well-known characters – like Harley Quinn or traditional clowns – Pomni still has specific traits that clearly set her apart. Her color scheme, facial expression, and outfit details all work together to create a look that’s instantly associated with her and not just a generic clown-like character.
In this tutorial on how to draw Pomni, I’ll show you exactly how to capture those defining features. We’ll go over how to draw each part of the character step by step, making sure that the result will be instantly recognizable. I’ll also explain how to color the character correctly so she becomes even more recognizable once your drawing is finished.
As with many of my other tutorials, this lesson also offers a chance to practice the basics of cartoon drawing and character design. Learning how to draw unique and recognizable characters is a core skill in animation and illustration, and working with a character like Pomni is a fun way to sharpen those abilities.
Before you begin this tutorial on how to draw Pomni, gather your materials: pencils, an eraser, paper, and something to color with – whether that’s colored pencils, markers, or digital tools. Find a comfortable place to sit, relax, and get ready to enjoy the creative process.

How to Draw Pomni
- Draw Pomni’s head and torso.
Sketch two simple shapes for Pomni’s body. Start with a large oval or slightly rounded circle at the top for the head. Directly below it, add a narrow, wavy shape for the torso – it should resemble a stretched-out peanut or a vertical jellybean. These two shapes don’t need any details just yet.
- Sketch the jester hat.
Now draw Pomni’s large, floppy jester hat. Starting from the top sides of the head, sketch two large, curved points that arc outward and upward before curving back down. These floppy points should end in small circular pom-poms. At the base of the hat, draw a curved band that wraps around the top of her head.
- Draw the face of Pomni.
Now, draw two large circles in the middle of the face for her eyes. Inside each circle, add a smaller circle for the pupils. After that, draw simple shapes below the eyes to indicate a clown makeup. Next, place a tiny line below the eyes for the mouth. You can lightly adjust their placement if the face feels uneven.
- Add hair, costume details, and buttons.
Sketch straight sections of hair that come down from under the hat and frame both sides of her face. These sections should be long and narrow. Next, add a center part of hair. After that, draw the collar below the head. Then draw two large round buttons vertically down the center of her torso.
- Draw Pomni’s sleeves and pants.
In this step, start building out the arms and legs. Begin with the sleeves by drawing large, round puffed shapes on each side of Pomni’s upper torso. These sleeves resemble inflated balloons. Next, sketch the lower half of the outfit – draw two similar shapes at the base of the body.
- Add the arms and gloves.
Now, draw long vertical arms from the circular shapes from the previous step. At the bottom, draw the gloves – these are stylized and cartoonish, with wide cuffs and rounded fingers. The gloves should include four visible fingers, all drawn as simple curves without too much detail.
- Draw the legs and shoes.
Now let’s finish the lower body by drawing Pomni’s long legs. Extend two narrow shapes downward from the base of her torso. These legs are long and stylized. At the bottom of each leg, draw her shoes – short, wide shapes. Add simple rectangular cuffs at the tops of the shoes where they meet the legs.
- Add final lines and patterns.
Now, add the pattern to Pomni’s jester hat – draw angled lines that divide the hat into alternating sections. After that, draw the pattern on the top part of the arms and legs. You can also darken your outlines, smooth out any messy parts, and erase the initial sketch lines you no longer need.
- Color your drawing of Pomni.
For the jester hat, alternate between bright red and blue sections, and use yellow for the pom-poms. Color her hair a dark brown, and fill in her face and hands with a pale skin tone. For the outfit, use red and blue, alternating colors for the sleeves and legs to keep that checkered look.
