How to Draw a Chibi Girl

  1. Sketch the chibi head and torso.

Draw a large, rounded head, as this exaggerated head size is a defining feature of the chibi style. For the torso, sketch a small, bean-shaped outline directly beneath the head. The torso should look significantly smaller than the head, maintaining the typical chibi proportions.Sketch the chibi head and torso

  2. Add the chibi girl’s facial features.

Now, draw the eyes as two large, rounded ovals. These oversized eyes are key to achieving the Chibi style’s facial features. Draw a tiny curved line below the eyes for the mouth, keeping it small and simple to maintain the cute, childlike aesthetic. Add two thin, curved lines above the eyes for eyebrows.Add the chibi girl’s facial features

  3. Add the hair to the chibi girl.

For the hair, draw a short bob hairstyle with straight bangs. Start with the bangs, using soft, curved lines that extend from one side of the forehead to the other. Add a few strands within the bangs for a realistic effect, but keep the details minimal. For the top and sides, draw smooth, rounded lines.Add the hair to the chibi girl

  4. Add the neck and shoulder.

Draw a very short, thin neck connecting the head to the torso. The neck should be about as wide as the space between the eyes. For the shoulders, sketch two short curved horizontal lines that extend out from the top of the torso. Using a few simple lines, draw the top of the dress.Add the neck and shoulder

  5. Illustrate the dress.

Outline the chibi girl’s dress, starting at the shoulders and expanding outward slightly to create a flared, triangular shape. The dress should end at the middle of the legs, leaving room for the feet. Use smooth, slightly curved lines to suggest a soft, flowing fabric.Illustrate the dress

  6. Sketch the simplified arms.

Sketch the arms extending down from the shoulders to the sides of the dress. The arms should be thin and proportionally shorter than realistic arms, keeping in line with the chibi proportions. At the end of each arm, add a small shape for the hands, but keep them minimal and simple. Avoid detailing the fingers.Sketch the simplified arms

  7. Add the legs and feet.

Draw the visible parts of the chibi legs as short and simple geometric shapes. Next, sketch the chibi feet as two small and curved shapes. As with the hands, try not to make the feet too detailed. Use a few simple, small lines to sketch the shoes.Add the legs and feet

  8. Finalize the chibi girl sketch.

Remove all extra guidelines, creating smooth, rounded shapes typical of Chibi characters. Ensure the head is oversized and symmetrical, with clean, bold lines. Refine the large eyes, keeping them simple, while maintaining their proportionate dominance.Finalize the chibi girl sketch

  9. Add color to the chibi girl drawing.

Color the chibi girl using bright, solid tones that match the simple, cute style. Keep the colors bold but not overly detailed – avoid shading or complex gradients. For the skin, hair, and dress, use simple colors, and for the eyes, choose a lively hue while leaving small white circles to create a shiny look.Add color to the chibi girl drawing
