Many beginners and experienced artists draw beautiful paintings on the marine theme. In order to correctly depict the surface of the water, some skills are needed and this instruction shows in detail how to draw waves.
Each step in this guide involves one simple action that any beginner can easily repeat. In this lesson, arbitrary lines are allowed, because each wave has its own unique shape.
Materials
- Pencil
- Paper
- Eraser
- Coloring supplies
Time needed: 20 minutes.
How to Draw Waves
- Start drawing the crest of the wave.
Draw jagged, curved lines to depict the top of the wave where there is white foam.
- Draw the bottom of the crest.
Sketch out a smooth wavy line.
- Add the top of the crest.
Depict a long, uneven line at the top.
- Depict the top outline of the wave.
Sketch out smooth rounded lines, as shown in the example.
- Sketch out the bottom of the wave.
Draw a curved line under the crest of the wave. Add thin lines to depict the surface of the water.
- Color the waves.
You will need a light blue to color the water. Leave the foam white.
