How to Draw Daisy Duck
- Outline the top of the head.
Every character drawing starts with a base, and in this tutorial we will star from the top and move down slowly. For Daisy Duck, outlining the upper head helps you set her unique silhouette. Lightly sketch the top part with feathered edges, as her tufted head shape makes her instantly recognizable.
- Draw Daisy Duck’s bow and beak.
Characters like Daisy have accessories that define their unique look, and her bow is one of the most important. Draw two rounded loops with a small oval in the center at the top of her head, making sure both sides are even in size. Below, sketch the outline of her beak using smooth curves.
- Sketch the upper torso shape.
To connect Daisy’s head with her body, extend the outline downward to form the start of her torso. Sketch a narrow neck leading into a rounded upper body. The torso should remain proportionally smaller than the head to keep the cartoon look consistent.
- Complete the torso and draw the tail.
Continue the torso of the character down into a longer curved shape. Think of the torso as a bean shape. On the backside, add a small cluster of tail feathers, rounded and fluffy, reminding us of her duck heritage. This small detail is very important to convey her look.
- Sketch the arms of Daisy.
A character’s personality often shows most in their gestures. Draw one arm with a gentle bend at the elbow, finishing it with a hand in a position near her head. Then draw the other arm hanging down. Use smooth, flowing lines for the arms so they appear natural.
- Illustrate the first leg and shoe.
For the legs, first sketch the cluster of feathers at the very top, where they connect to the torso. Sketch short lines downward to create the main part of the leg. Add her large cartoon shoe at the end, using a rounded front and broad sole. Her shoes are oversized on purpose, which makes them visually distinct.
- Finish drawing the legs.
Now, draw the other leg slightly bent and angled differently from the first. Sketch another oversized shoe, matching the shape and size of the first but tilting it to other position. A useful tip is to imagine a horizontal line across the bottom edges of both shoes, this ensures they sit on the same level.
- Draw Daisy Duck’s eyes.
In this step Daisy really becomes recognizable. Sketch her large oval eyes, placed close together within the head outline. Add long lashes above each eye to highlight her feminine style. Then draw the line that separates her head from the torso.
- Use iconic colors to paint the character.
Finishing a character always requires adding color to highlight design elements. Leave Daisy’s feathers white. Her beak and legs should be yellow, while her shoes can be colored pink or purple, matching her well-known style. Add lavender or light purple to her blouse, and use pink for her large bow.
