How to Draw Pikachu
- Draw the head.
Begin the drawing by sketching a basic oval shape to outline Pikachu’s head. The shape should be slightly narrower at the top and wider at the bottom, mimicking the general head shape of the character without any details yet.
- Draw the body.
Extend the initial head outline to add the body, which should flow seamlessly from the bottom of the head. This addition should resemble a bell or pear shape, providing the chubby and cute appearance typical of Pikachu. The key here is to maintain smooth, rounded lines that suggest softness and volume.
- Draw the limbs.
Focus on adding Pikachu’s arms and legs to establish a comfortable sitting posture. Sketch the arms so that they appear resting lightly on the surface. The legs should be drawn spread apart to create a natural and casual seated position.
- Draw the ears.
The tilt of the ears adds a playful element, enhancing the overall character of the drawing. Begin to add Pikachu’s ears by sketching two long, oval-like shapes atop the head. Then add a couple of curved lines at the tops of the ears. This will help with coloring.
- Draw the tail.
Sketch the zigzag pattern of Pikachu’s tail, a key element of its design, making it prominent and dynamic. The placement and shape of the tail add to the character’s recognizable silhouette. Important detail: The tail should expand upward.
- Add the facial details.
Detail Pikachu’s face by adding two simple dots for the eyes and a small, curved line for the mouth. These features should be placed carefully to create the character’s endearing expression. - Erase the guidelines.
