How to draw a magic ball step by step

  1. Sketch a circle for the magical sphere.

Beginning with a simple shape makes it easier to place later details correctly, so it helps to start with the largest form of the magic ball. Draw a perfect circle in the center of your page, using light pressure so you can adjust the outline if needed. Try to keep the curve even all around.Sketch a circle for the magical sphere

  2. Draw the thickness of the magic ball.

Glass has thickness, and to represent that thickness, draw another circle around the previous one, trying to make it perfectly rounded as well. Leave an even gap between both circles to give the glass a uniform thickness.Draw the thickness of the magic ball

  3. Sketch the upper part of the base.

Now that the ball is defined, it needs a support to rest on. Draw the top edge of the magic crystal stand as a straight line with slightly rounded corners on both sides. This line should be a bit narrower than the widest part of the sphere and should overlap the lower edge of the ball slightly, creating the sense that the glass is resting inside the stand.Sketch the upper part of the base

  4. Complete the base of the crystal.

Under the stand you just created, sketch a wide, rounded rectangle for the lower part of the stand. This outline should follow the same shape as the piece above and crate a simple step look. This creates a thick platform that supports the ball.Complete the base of the crystal

  5. Add the swirling mist pattern.

The inside of a magic ball usually appears mysterious, so let’s start adding details. Begin drawing a cloud as a large spiral on the left side of the ball, then extend the curve into several smaller curls. It helps to visualize drifting smoke or magical mist.Add the swirling mist pattern

  6. Draw the small dots inside the magic ball.

To make the interior more interesting and detailed, sketch a few small circles scattered around the swirls. These dots shouldn’t all be the same size – mixing larger and smaller ones creates a more natural look. Since the drawing will later include stars, leave enough open space for the next step.Draw the small dots inside the magic ball

  7. Add stars inside the sphere.

Stars give the magic ball its final decorative touch, so place them where they complement the swirls and dots. Draw five-point stars, adjusting the size of each one so the interior doesn’t feel repetitive. A good tip is to lightly mark the center of each star before adding the points.Add stars inside the sphere

  8. Clean up the ball, stand, and patterns.

Before adding color, it’s helpful to make the drawing as clean as possible. Carefully erase any extra construction lines, overlapping curves, or corrections you made earlier. Try to keep the night sky drawing inside the ball clean and untouched.Clean up the ball, stand, and patterns

  9. Add color to the magical crystal.

Finish the magical ball drawing by choosing colors that enhance the mystery atmosphere. Soft purples, blues, or glowing pink tones work well inside the ball. Shade the glass in a light blue or gray. For the base, pick a simple warm color such as gold, brown, or deep yellow.Add color to the magical crystal
