How to Draw Perry the Platypus
Continuing with the Phineas and Ferb theme, this step-by-step tutorial will show you how to draw Perry the Platypus.
In this lesson, I will show you in detail how to draw Perry the Platypus. This is the character of the animated series Phineas and Ferb. In the cartoon, the domestic platypus is presented as a secret agent. This character leads a double life.
At home, Perry the Platypus masterfully portrays a stupid animal and at the same time perfectly copes with the role of a spy. Perry the platypus has an unusual turquoise color, this bird has a hat on its head. The platypus is bold and self-confident.
The body of Perry the Platypus consists of simple geometric shapes, just line in the Phineas drawing tutorial and Ferb drawing guide. You can easily draw this character if you follow the instructions carefully and use small hints at each step. I think you will be happy to draw this funny character and have a good time.

How to draw Perry the Platypus step by step
- Sketch the character’s eyes and pupils.
First, mark two horizontal ovals for the eyes. Sketch small pupils near the inner corners so both eyes aim left. Outline a short fold above one of the eyes.
- Draw the broad platypus bill.
From beneath the eyes, sketch the short triangular top of the bill of the cartoon animal that points left. Add the wider lower bill with a long, flattened arc that overlaps the upper part near the corner of the mouth. Keep the edges smooth and simple.
- Mark the head borders.
On the right side, draw the back edge of the head as a straight line. After that, mark the second edge of head with a simple line.
- Draw Perry the Platypus’ signature fedora.
Now, draw the hat, starting with a long, low brim at the top of the cartoon character’s eyes. On top, sketch the crown with smooth lines. Show a short band line around the crown.
- Sketch the body and leg base.
From the head left and right edges, pull simple lines down to mid-body. Draw the uneven and simple leg bases like two wide shapes, leaving space between them.
- Draw the arms of Perry the Platypus.
From the upper torso, sketch the left arm as a straight segment, then attach a small, spiky hand with five short, triangular fingers. On the right side, draw a similar arm angled back.
- Sketch the flat, spread, and webbed feet.
Now, draw the uneven and simple webbed feet by extending the earlier U-shapes into flat triangular forms with rounded tips. Add shallow inner notches per foot to represent toes.
- Draw and detail the platypus tail.
Redraw final contours with steady and dark strokes. Then, draw the tail of Perry the Platypus using snd elongated U-shape. On the tail, illustrate the diamond pattern: draw long diagonals, then cross them with shorter diagonals to form large checks.
- Add flat colors to Perry the Platypus.
Fill the body with teal or turquoise typical of Perry the Platypus. Color the bill and feet a warm orange. Paint the fedora a dark brown with a slightly darker band. Make the tail a tan or light brown, leaving the diamond lines visible. Darken the pupils, keep the eye whites clean.
